Events included film premieres\, industry summits\, talent programs\, parties and special guest appearances by actors and directors. \nImpact\nOur commitment to diversity\, equity & inclusion\nWFF is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of equity\, inclusion\, and diversity that includes gender parity\, Indigenous values\, experiences of racialized communities and traditionally marginalized groups\, and to expanding our efforts to increase diversity among our people and in our programs to reflect diverse stories on the screen and behind the scenes.The Whistler Film Festival Society is situated on the shared traditional and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat) Nations. \nSince 2001\, our programs and local cultural initiatives have served over 150\,000 filmmakers and film fans. Of the 1\,475 films that have been presented\, hundreds launched at the Festival have gained critical recognition and acclaim as a result\, propelling Canadian content and our domestic talent worldwide. WFF has proudly presented 162 awards and commissions valued at $1.7 million\, attracted and launched some of the top talent of our time\, and established a community of over 2\,805 filmmaker and industry alumni. \nWith over $23.2 million invested in our affiliated programs to date by cause-driven organizations\, companies and people\, and 2.6 million volunteer hours generously donated\, WFF has generated over $80 million worth of exposure for Whistler\, BC\, Canada and domestic talent. \nIn 2021\, WFF further solidified its reputation and reach\, generating 27.3 million media and marketing impressions that globally showcased BC\, Canada and our domestic talent. It was founded in 1993 by the Documentary Organization of Canada (formerly the Canadian Independent Film Caucus)\, a national association of independent documentary filmmakers. In 1996\, it became a separately incorporated organization with a mandate to showcase and support the work of Canadian and international documentary filmmakers and to promote excellence in documentary production. \nEach year\, Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival — North America's largest doc festival\, conference and market — presents over 200 cutting edge films from around the world. Year round\, it supports the Canadian and international industry with professional development programs and a multi-million-dollar production fund portfolio\, and fosters education through documentaries with its popular free program Docs For Schools. \nHot Docs owns and programs the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema\, a century-old landmark located in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood and the world’s first and largest documentary cinema.
